File Level Estimating Glossary
This glossary has two groups: Attributes and Metrics. Each group contains categories, select any category to see the Attributes/ Metrics, and Definitions.

Attribute | Definition |

Airbag Deployed | Identifies whether a file included replacement of a driver and/or passenger-side airbag. Values include: Air Bag Deployed, No Air Bag Deployed and Unknown Air Bag Source. |
Appraiser Manager Hierarchy Level 1-7 | The management hierarchy levels (1 -7) of the Appraiser who completed the file. Contacts in the CCC Registration system can be configured with a manager. |
Catastrophe Name | The name of a catastrophe as indicated in the “Catastrophe” field of the Admin1 tab of Pathways. |
Claim Category | Claim Category is a grouping of Claim Type into Structural, Vehicle, Other or Unknown |
Claim Office Level 1-6 | This is the Claim Office Hierarchy (1- 6) from the claim office in the portal. Levels are defined in the CCC Registration system can be configured by the office location. |
Claim Type | Claim Type is an attribute that reflects the type of claim appraised. Values include: (Bus, Heavy Equipment ,Heavy Truck, Recreational Vehicles and Campers, Trailer, Watercraft, Emergency, Motorcycle, Sport/Off Road, Unknown, Other, Structural, Vehicle). |
Claim Type Detail | Claim Type Detail is a attribute that gives more detail to the Claim Type. Example Values for "Vehicle" Claim Type include: (Car, Pickup, Utility Vehicle, Other, Specialty Car, Van, Personal Property, Unknown). |
Driveable | An indicator used to denote whether a vehicle is considered drivable or not. It has values as Drivable , Non-Drivable or Unknown. |
Estimate Complete Datetime | The date the estimate of record for a given claim was locked/completed |
File Appraiser Name | The Appraiser is the actual staff appraiser, repair facility, or independent appraisal company that generated the file which was reviewed for a given insurance company. This information comes from CCC Registration system. |
File Appraiser User Name | The Appraiser is the actual staff appraiser, repair facility, or independent appraisal company that generated the file which was reviewed for a given insurance company. The list displays the appraiser Login ID. This information comes from CCC Registration system. |
File Complete Datetime | The date and time when the specified file version (E01, S01, S02, etc) of the claim was completed. |
File Source | The source used to create the file; Values are CCC One or Unknown. |
File Status | The Status of the latest file of the claim. |
File Suffix | Denotes the file within the overall appraisal (i.e. E01, S01, S02, etc.). |
File Type | Provides info about whether the review was done on an Estimate file or on a Supplement. |
Inspection Location CBSA | The cbsa of the vehicle inspection. The city is derived from the zip code of the inspection location. |
Inspection Location State | The state of the vehicle inspection. State is derived from the zip code of the vehicle inspection location. |
Latest File Sent Datetime | Date that the latest file was sent |
Loss Category | Loss Category is the type of coverage for a particular claim. Valid loss categories include: Collision, Comprehensive, Liability, Other, Unknown. |
MOI Appraiser Type | Specifies the type of Appraiser who conducted the Motor Own Damage (MOI) inspection. Values include DRP, Independent Appraiser, Open Shop, Staff Appraiser, and Unknown. |
MOI Inspection Location Type | Specifies the Method how a Motor Own Damage (MOI) inspection is conducted; typically has values like Desk, Drive-in, field, home, etc. |
MOI Inspection Type | Indicates the type or nature of the Motor Own Damage (MOI) inspection performed, such as Photo , Physical , Quick Estimate etc. |
Predictive Review Recommendation | The recommendation on file as outcome of predictive review. Values include High, Low, Medium, etc. |
Primary POI Category | A selection option when creating your own report that provides specific detail on claims/appraisals broken out by primary point of impact. It Includes values: Front Impact, Rear Impact, Other Collision, Burn, Unknown, Non Collision etc. |
Primary POI Desc | Provides info about primary point of impact for the loss, like whether it was front, rear, right, left, left front, all over etc. |
Repair Facility Name | The name entered into the “Repair Site” field within Pathways Admin 2. This field will not be populated for non-Pathways appraisals. |
Repairable Condition | Repairable is a Condition attribute that identifies that the loss vehicle can be repaired. |
Secondary Company Name | The underwriting company for the estimate |
Secondary POI Category | Provides the category for the secondary point of impact to better group the data together; values include: Front Impact , Rear Impact , Other Collision, Burn, Unknown, Non Collision etc. |
Secondary POI Desc | Provides info about secondary point of impact for the loss, like whether it was front, rear, right, left, left front, all over etc. |
Settlement Type | This indicates whether the vehicle was settled for being Repairable or Total loss it also has some unknown volume. |
Severity Range | Series of dollar ranges used to group Loss vehicles based on their Total Loss Final Valuation Amt and repairable based on TCOR. |
Smart Estimate JumpStart | It’s a flag which tells whether for the claim Smart estimate was JumpStart yes or no. |
Total Loss | An indicator used to identify whether a vehicle has been deemed a total loss as a result of damage, typically due to an accident, theft, or other covered event. A total loss occurs when the cost of repairs exceeds a certain threshold of the vehicle's value, as determined by insurance companies or regulatory guidelines. |
Vehicle Age Group | A categorization of vehicles based on their age into specific groups or ranges. The current grouping has options like 1-3 years old , 4-6 years old , 7 years and older , Current year or Newer and unknown. |
Vehicle Fuel Type | Specifies the type of fuel used to power the vehicle's engine, such as gasoline, diesel, electric, hybrid (combination of gasoline and electric), natural gas, etc. |
Vehicle Make | The brand or manufacturer of a vehicle, representing the company that designed, produced, and marketed the vehicle. |
Vehicle Manufacturer | The company or entity responsible for manufacturing the vehicle. This term may sometimes be used interchangeably with "vehicle make" but can also refer to the broader organization overseeing the production process. |
Vehicle Model | The specific version or variant of a vehicle produced by a manufacturer. It typically includes details such as trim level, options, and features that distinguish it from other models within the same make. |
Vehicle Owner CBSA | Short for “Core Based Statistical Area”, CBSA refers to the Census bureau defined metropolitan area (areas with a population greater than 50,000) or micropolitan area (areas with a population between 10,000 – 49,999) where the vehicle owner resides. |
Vehicle Owner State | The state for the vehicle owner. The state is derived from the zip code of the vehicle owner. |
Vehicle Source | Indicates the origin source of the vehicle, such as Asian , Domestic , European etc. |
Vehicle Type | Classifies the vehicle into a specific category or type based on its intended use, design, and characteristics, such as passenger car, commercial vehicle, truck, motorcycle, etc. |
File Start Datetime | The date and time when the specified file version (E01, S01, S02, etc) of the claim was started. |

% of Files with Mechanical Labor Changed | Number of files in which dollars spent on mechanical labor is greater than or less than $0 as a percentage of the total number of files. |
% of Files with OEM Discount Changed | Total number of files that include one or more discounted OEM parts as a percent of the total number of files that include one or more OEM parts. |
% of Files with Optional OEM Parts Changed | Total number of files that include one or more Optional OEM parts changes as a percentage of the total number of files. |
% of Files with Recycled Parts Changed | Total number of files that include one or more recycled parts as a percentage of the total number of files. |
% of Files with RO Parts Changed | Total number of files that include one or more reconditioned/recored (RO) parts as a percentage of the total number of files. |
% of S01s | Percentage of files that are S01s. |
% of S02s | Percentage of files that are S02s. |
% of S03s | Percentage of files that are S03s. |
% of S04s and above | Percentage of files that are S04s and above. |
Actual Cnty Tax Rate | The actual tax rate imposed by the county authority on the total cost or value associated with the repair estimate. |
Actual Municipal Tax Rate | The actual tax rate imposed by the municipal authority on the total cost or value associated with the repair estimate. |
Actual Other1 Tax Rate | The actual tax rate imposed by an additional taxing authority (e.g., special district, regional authority) on the total cost or value associated with the repair estimate. |
Actual Other2 Tax Rate | Similar to Actual Other 1 Tax Rate, this measure represents the actual tax rate imposed by another additional taxing authority (e.g., special district, regional authority) on the total cost or value associated with the repair estimate. |
Actual Sales Tax Rate | The actual rate of sales tax imposed on the total cost or value associated with the repair estimate. |
Actual Total Loss Tax Rate | The actual tax rate applied specifically to total loss situations, where the vehicle is considered a total loss due to severe damage or other factors. |
Allowance Amount Changed | Total dollars for appearance allowance. |
Allowance File Cnt Changed | The total number of files where the allowance amount is not equal to zero. Used as a denominator to determine average allowance amount. |
AM % of Part Amt Changed | Total dollars spent on aftermarket (AM) parts as a percent of the total dollars spent on replaced parts. |
AM Comparable Part Amt Changed | Total dollars for comparable OEM parts at the manufacturer’s list price for replaced aftermarket parts. |
AM File Cnt Changed | Total number of files where the total dollars for replaced aftermarket parts (AM Part Amt) is not equal to $0. |
AM Part Amt Changed | Total dollars for new parts from a source other than the original equipment manufacturer that were replaced in completed estimates and supplements.(Also includes all parts with part type = tire). |
AM Part Cnt Changed | Total number of new parts from a source other than the original equipment manufacturer that were replaced in completed estimates and supplements. (Includes all parts with part type = tire). |
AM Part Notify Cnt Changed | The total number of times the appraiser was notified of the availability of an aftermarket part. Pathways appraisals that predate version 4.1 and non-Pathways appraisals will always set this value to “0”. |
AM Party Notify User Cnt Changed | The total number of times the appraiser inserted the aftermarket part into the estimate or supplement when notified of the availability of an aftermarket part. Pathways appraisals that predate version 4.1 and non-Pathways appraisals will always set this value to “0”. |
Avg # Of Parts Replaced per File | Average number of parts replaced per file |
Avg Allowance Amt per file | Average dollars per claim that included appearance allowance. |
Avg AM Part Amt per file | Average dollars by file for new parts from a source other than the original equipment manufacturer that were replaced in completed estimates and supplements.(Also includes all parts with part type = tire). |
Avg Betterment Amt per file | Average dollars per claim that included betterment. |
Avg Estimate Amt | Average by file of the sum of PreTax Amt + Tax Amt for all E01s. Equivalent to the Total Cost of Repairs on the print image for any non-supplement claims/appraisals. |
Avg Hazardous Waste Amt Changed | Average dollars by filefor hazardous waste removal (EPC). |
Avg Labor Changed Hrs per File | Average hours of labor with Frame Labor category per file |
Avg Misc. Amt Changed per File | Average dollars for miscellaneous per file. This includes any items where “Sublet” is the chosen labor operation, and the part type is “None”. Also includes any non-towing, non-storage, or non-EPC charges entered as “Other Charges” in Pathways. |
Avg OEM Part Amt Changed per file | Average dollars by file for replaced OEM parts on completed estimates and supplements (equal to the sum of OEM List Part Amt + OEM Marked Up Part Amt + OEM Discounted Part Amt). |
Avg OptOEM Part Amt Changed | Total dollars for replaced Optional OEM parts on completed estimates and supplements. Please note that parts sourced from an OE Direct supplier from the Optional OEM database in Pathways will be treated as part type OEM. |

Avg Pre tax Discount Amt | Average discount dollar amount of completed estimates and supplements before taxes and allowances are added in, and before betterments are subtracted. |
Avg Recycled Part Amt Changed | Average dollars per file for replaced recycled (LKQ) parts. |
Avg Repair Labor Amt Changed per file | Average total dollars by file spent on repair (repair and align) labor across all labor categories |

Avg Tot Loss thrshld Amt Changed | The average total loss threshold dollar amount by file for files that have a total loss threshold amount. The Total Loss Threshold Amt indicates the point at which the repair cost has reached the threshold (set by the threshold percentage in the Pathways profile) of the CCC Regional Value Amt. The Total Loss Threshold Exceeded Indicator is triggered when Total Repair Cost exceeds the Total Loss Threshold Amt. |
Avg Tow Amt Changed | Average dollars for towing for files that included towing. |
Avg True Supplement Amt per file | The average dollars from supplemental changes to the original estimate of record per file |
Betterment Amt | Total dollars for betterment. |

Body Supply Repair hours Changed | Total labor hours associated with replace operation used to calculate body supplies. |

Insurer Prepaid Amt Changed | Total dollars specified as prepaid by the insurer to the vehicle owner, i.e. the dollar amount that should be deducted from the total cost of repair to net the amount the repair facility should be paid directly by the insurer. For Pathways appraisals that predate version 4.1 or non-Pathways appraisals, this field will be set to 0. |

Miscellaneous Total Amt Changed | The changes in the Miscellaneous amount from the previous file to current file version |
Municipal Tax Amt Changed | The total amount of tax levied by the municipal authority on claim-related expenses. |
Negotiated Supplement Amt Changed | The total Supplement amount for Supplement which came after Estimate Review. |

Non Oem % of Part Amt Changed | Total dollars spent on Non-OEM parts as a percentage of total dollars spent on parts. |
Number Lines | Total number of lines in the file. |
Number of Hints Accepted | Number of JumpStart hints accepted by appraiser in Smart Estimate. |
Number of Hints Ignored | Number of JumpStart hints ignored by appraiser in Smart Estimate. |
Number of Hints Remaining | Number of JumpStart hints remaining in Smart Estimate. |
Number of Lines at SE Launch | The count of estimating lines at the end of “full prepare” phase of Smart Estimate before the user modifies the estimates. |
Number of Lines Changed | Number of lines changed in the file from previous to current file version. |
Odometer File Cnt Changed | The total number of files where the vehicle odometer is not null. |
OEM % of Part Amt Changed | Total dollars spent on OEM parts as a percent of the total dollars spent on replaced parts. Please note that parts sourced from OE Direct supplier will be treated as part type OEM. |
OEM Discount File Cnt Changed | Total number of claims/appraisals where the total dollars for replaced OEM parts purchased at a discount from the manufacturer’s list price is not equal to $0. |

Other1 Tax Amt Changed | The total Amount of tax imposed by an additional taxing authority (e.g., special district, regional authority) on claim related expense. |
Other2 Tax Amt Changed | Similar to Other 1 Tax Amt, this measure represents the total amount of tax imposed by another additional taxing authority (e.g., special district, regional authority) on the claim related expense. |
Paint File Cnt Changed | Total number of files where the total dollars for Paint Labor (Paint Repair Amt + Paint Replace Amt) is not equal to $0. |
